Elim Personal Ministry Department
The goal of the Personal Ministries Department is to lead the church in its soul-winning endeavors. Each member is encouraged to be involved in ministry. ” Christ’s method alone will give true success in reaching the people. The Savior mingled with men as one who desired their good. He showed his sympathy for them, ministered to their needs, and won their confidence. Then He bade them, “follow Me” (Ministry of Healing, page 143).
The Personal Ministry Department consists of the following outreach opportunities:
Community Service: Leader-William Gales
Adventist Community Services meets people’s immediate needs through social services such as tutoring and mentoring programs, Youth Volunteer Corps, health screening education and assistance, inner city missions, and disaster response.
Literature Distribution: Leader-Rodney Maddox
The Literature Distribution team focuses on reaching the community through a door-to-door ministry by sharing printed materials such as tracts, books, and surveys.
Telephone Ministry: Leader-Clementine Mells
For those who are interested in reaching out to missing members or prospective members through telephone communication, this ministry provides an opportunity to work with a team dedicated in-reach ministry.
Nursing Home Visitation: Leader-Leonard Davis
Reaching out to those who are unable to attend church service is a valuable ministry; and the Nursing Home Visitation Ministry provides a opportunity to witness by singing, reading the word of God, and sharing through testimonies with our community friends in nursing homes.
Women’s Ministry: Leader-Linda Mells
Women’s Ministry is focused on outreach opportunities within our community. This ministry consists of a team of dedicated women that have been active in feeding the homeless and reaching out to women shelters in the area.
Prison Ministry: Leader-Norma Johnson
One of Jesus directives in Matthew 25 was one of visiting the those who are in prison. Reaching out to individuals that are incarcerated offers a very unique opportunity to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus and to link them with someone who make a difference in their plans for life.
E-Witnessing: Leader-Paul Coleman
For anyone interested in reaching out to the community or even the entire world, the
E-Witnessing group was formed to used the latest technologies to minister and reach out to community. By using the Internet, social networks, blogs and digital media such as Cd's this team employs cutting edge advancements to promote the gospel.
Bible Study: Leader-Irvin Pressley
Studying the word of God is essential to spiritual growth and development. Each Tuesday evening at 6:30 pm, the bible study group meets and study the Word of God and to study the church history of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Home Visitation: Leader-Bertram Lewis
This team is assembled to visit members on a consistent basis to create a spirit of unity and to promote open comunication.
